Bioluminescence

Luminescence is light of a physical system, that is not generated by high temperatures alone. Chemiluminescence - also: chemoluminescence - is the emission of light as the result of a chemical reaction with limited emission of heat. Bioluminescence is emission of light by a living organism as the result of a chemical reaction.
