Polymerchemie

Der Begriff Polymer wird nicht immer einheitlich verwendet: Siehe auch Makromoleküle, Kunststoffe etc.

Laut IUPAC sind Polymere Substanzen, die aus solchen Molekülen aufgebaut sind, in denen eine Art oder mehrere Arten von Atomen oder Atomgruppen wiederholt aneinander gereiht sind. Demnach ist ein Polymer das Produkt einer Polymerisationsreaktion.
